Industry Specific ComplianceThe Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on August 25, 2026, notified the Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Cash Reserve Ratio and Statutory Liquidity Ratio) Fourth Amendment Directions, 2026, to amend the Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Cash Reserve Ratio and Statutory Liquidity Ratio) Directions, 2025.

The following has been stated: -

•The Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Cash Reserve Ratio and Statutory Liquidity Ratio) Fourth Amendment Directions, 2026 revise the exemption period from CRR and SLR maintenance for specified fresh FCNR(B) and NRE term deposits. 

•The exemption period is reduced from September 30, 2026 to August 31, 2026. 

•Accordingly, eligible FCNR(B) deposits mobilised between June 08 and August 31, 2026 and NRE term deposits mobilised between June 19 and August 31, 2026 will qualify for the exemption. 

•The Directions are issued under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 and RBI Act, 1934 and take immediate effect.
